Make Money With Domain Tasting
If you see a new kind of food and you’re not sure if you’re going to like it or not, you’ll normally taste it to see if it works for you. If it does, you buy it.
Domain tasting works in exactly the same way. Essentially it gives you a chance to see how successful a domain name is likely to be before hanging onto it for any real length of time.
This gives you a unique chance to test the waters before diving in and trying to make a money making site out of any one domain name. By trying it out first you will know exactly which domains are going to make you any real money.
When you ‘taste’ a domain you generally buy it for five days. Obviously you shouldn’t just buy any old domain name to begin with; you should still do your research to see which names are likely to work well for you.
Before you buy a name, make sure you have a parking service set up and ready to receive that name. You obviously don’t want to do anything with this domain name when you buy it – the idea is just to get it parked immediately to see if it gets any direct traffic to that name without any effort put in from you at all.
A lot of people point their domain name to an Adsense page they have set up, giving them the chance to earn some money during the test run. This is where you decide whether the name is worth hanging onto or not. If people do visit your page, click on the ads and make you money as a result, then you will want to hang on to that domain name.
When you find a domain name that doesn’t work, you simply cancel it by the end of the five day tasting period. After that it’s simply a case of ‘rinse and repeat!’
The way you do this is up to you. You can either start by tasting one domain at a time, gradually building up a repertoire of domains that are all bringing in money, or you can register dozens, hundreds or even thousands of different domains every month – although this last example is usually only done by those who can afford to spend a lot of time on the exercise.
The more domains you have though, the more money you will make from domain tasting. Some people make millions of dollars in ad revenue from this type of online business alone.
It’s important to remember that you don’t even need to build a site around a successful domain name once you find one. You may find that you are getting a decent amount of revenue simply from having a single page parked with your Adsense adverts on it. You can of course build a site with valuable content included on it if you wish.
